1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you sign in with Google OAuth, we collect your name and email address. This information is used to create and manage your HuPenn account.

Usage Data

We track your word usage and scan counts to enforce plan limits. This data is stored in our database and associated with your account.

Input Text

Text you submit for rewriting is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) for processing. We do not permanently store your input text on our servers. Rewrite history, if saved, is accessible only to you and can be deleted upon request.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate HuPenn:

  • Google OAuth — Authentication. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Supabase — Database hosting for user accounts and usage data. Data is stored securely with row-level security policies.
  • Lemon Squeezy — Payment processing for subscriptions. We do not store your credit card information. All payment data is handled directly by Lemon Squeezy in compliance with PCI DSS standards.
  • Anthropic (Claude API) — AI text processing. Your submitted text is sent to Anthropic for rewriting. Refer to Anthropic's Privacy Policy for their data handling practices.
  • Google Analytics — We use Google Analytics to understand how users interact with the Service. This collects anonymized usage data such as page views and session duration.

4. Cookies

HuPenn uses the following cookies:

  • NextAuth session cookie — Required for authentication. Expires when you log out or after the session timeout.
  • Google Analytics cookies — Used for anonymous usage analytics. You can opt out using browser extensions or privacy settings.

We also use localStorage to track daily word usage for users who are not logged in. This data stays on your device and is not sent to our servers.

5. Data Retention

  • Account data is retained as long as your account is active
  • Usage data is retained for billing and analytics purposes
  • Rewrite history is accessible only to you and deleted when your account is removed
  • Input text submitted for rewriting is not permanently stored on our servers

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure database access with row-level security, and environment-based credential management. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Export your rewrite history

8. Children's Privacy

HuPenn is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via email or a notice on the Service. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
